Man killed in Hwy. 427 rollover

A 25-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 427 early Friday morning.

The crash happened around 1:45 a.m. on the southbound lanes near Derry Road.

“A single vehicle just before 2 a.m. this morning left the roadway, went up the embankment, rolled numerous times and back onto the highway,” OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford said.

The victim, Woodbridge man Avtar Singh Banga, was ejected from his car and was then hit by passing vehicles. Police say he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt when his car rolled. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We’re appealing for any witnesses to this collision,” Woodford said, “maybe they didn’t actually see the collision happen but there’s a possibility they could’ve hit or run over the body maybe thinking it was an animal or some kind of debris on the highway.”

Banga was the only person in the car.
