Angelina Jolie says she’ll give up acting to spend more time with kids

Actress Angelina Jolie says she is likely to give up acting in the next few years to spend more time with her family.

The 37-year-old Hollywood star revealed that as her six children become teenagers she would consider leaving the big screen behind.

“I think I’m going to have to give up the acting when the kids hit the teenage years anyway, too much to manage at home,” she said.

Jolie’s eldest son Maddox is 11, then she has eight-year-old Pax, Zahara who is seven, six year-old Shiloh and four-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

“I will do some films and I am so fortunate to have the job” she said. “I enjoy it, but if it went away tomorrow I would be very happy to be home with the children.”

Jolie made to comment while speaking to Channel 4 News on the weekend being interviewed about the British government’s global campaign to tackle warzone rape.

Jolie, a UN special envoy has used her star status to raise awareness of the issue for many years, and in 2011 her film The Land of Blood and Honey highlighted the rape camps set up during the Bosnian War.

A passionate campaigner, as well as spending more time with her children, there is another reason Jolie might turn her back on acting.

“I wake up in the morning as a mum and I turn on the news like everybody else and I see what’s happening and I want to be part of the world in a positive way,” she said.
