It’s the most wonderful time of the year but it can also be the busiest. Here’s a look at all of the information you need to know about what’s open and closed during the Christmas and New Year’s period.
Shopping
Jan. 1: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Government offices, libraries:
- Government offices will be closed New Year’s Day.
- Toronto Public Library branches will be closed New Year’s Day.

No delivery or collection on Jan. 1.
Transit:
Dec. 31: Travel FREE after 10 p.m.
Subway and most routes start at 6 a.m. Free parking at most TTC lots after 3 p.m. Subway, most bus and streetcar service extended until 4 a.m. Click here for more New Year’s Eve information.
Jan.1: Fare increase takes effect. Sunday service with most routes starting at 9 a.m.
Dec. 31: Free service after 8 p.m. Earlier homebound, minor adjustments and late evening departures for some GO Train and Bus routes, on all corridors.
