Trudeau spoke Saturday night at the Reviving the Islamic Conference in Toronto.
Liberal leadership candidate Justin Trudeau is firing back at critics who attacked him.
He told the hundreds of conference goers that his critics “tried to appeal to people’ fears and prejudices.”
“It may make some feel good for a little while, or even work politically in the short-term. But it is no way to build a country; least of all, this country. It is not who we are,” a charismatic Trudeau stated adding that it isn’t necessary to pit groups of Canadians against one another.
Trudeau says he respects and defends anyone’s right to express their opinion, but adds he will always stand up to what he calls “the politics of division and fear.”
