It was the end of an era for children’s entertainment when the original members of the band The Wiggles played their final concert together in Sydney, Australia on Sunday.
After 21 years on the road, three of the four original members donned their coloured skivvies for the last time.
Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt said farewell to a home crowd at Sydney’s Entertainment Centre.
“And now the end of the year’s here, and this is the last show where we’re going to play together, so it’s kind of a bit sad, but there’s lots to celebrate as well. Twenty one years to celebrate,” red Wiggle Murray Cook told the audience.
Three replacement members will join the group in 2013, but for some fans it would be difficult to adjust to the new members.
“I think they’ll be accepted, but it just won’t be quite the same. Especially for us old timers,” said one man as he left the concert.
“Change is always hard, and I think it’s going to be hard for people to, you know, I guess, warm up to the new Wiggles,” said a woman outside the stadium.
The blue Wiggle, Anthony Page, will remain with the group, joined by new members Emma Watkins, Lachlan Gillespie and Simon Pryce.
The group says it plays for more than a million people worldwide each year.
