Holiday RIDE programs continue across GTA

Police in Toronto and across Ontario are looking for impaired drivers as holiday RIDE programs continue across the province.
Toronto police began their spot-checks on Nov. 22 and they’ll continue until the New Year. Last year, the RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program led to 146 charges in Toronto.
Ontario Provincial Police kicked off their campaign on Nov. 24 and it will end on Jan. 1, 2013.
As of early November, 61 people had died in alcohol-related collisions within OPP jurisdiction in 2012. That’s up 17 per cent from last year’s 52 fatalities.
Police advise if you are going to drink, take a taxi, take public transit, arrange a designated driver or stay overnight.
