Gas leak prompts evacuation at North York building

The residents of a low-rise apartment building in North York were forced out into the cold before dawn Thursday morning due to a gas leak.
Firefighters were called to the six-storey building at 801 Sheppard Ave. W., near Wilson Heights Boulevard, around 4:30 a.m. Authorities evacuated the building and two buses were brought to the scene to keep residents warm.
So far, crews haven’t been able to determine the source of the natural gas leak.
No injuries have been reported.
