Nearby lightning possibly linked to migraines: study

The forecast for the GTA Tuesday night calls for a slight chance of a thunderstorm tonight, which means migraine sufferers may want to stock up on the extra-strength Advil.

A new U.S. study, published in the journal “Cephalalgia,” found people are 28 per cent more likely to experience a migraine on days when lightning strikes within 40 kilometres of their home.

Earlier research has linked migraine to barometric pressure, high temperatures and high humidity.
