Police arrest man after woman’s torso found in Kitchener garbage bin

KITCHENER, Ont. – A 37-year-old Kitchener man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 24-year-old woman whose torso was found in a garbage bin.

Waterloo Regional Police said the man is in police custody and is to appear in court to be charged with first-degree murder and committing an indignity to a dead human body.

The man was arrested in Kitchener just before 4 a.m. Thursday without incident, police said.

Police said the name of the accused will not be released until he appears in court.

A torso later identified as the remains of Kelsey Louise Felker was found in a trash bin last Saturday in Kitchener.

Police said no other arrests are anticipated but the investigation is ongoing.

At the request of the family, police released a photograph of Felker when she was 15.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-650-8500 ext. 8666 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
