TORONTO, Ont. – Commuters will catch a break with GO Transit and Metrolinx offering riders quiet zones and designated parking spots for carpoolers.
GO Transit passengers riding the Barrie line will get a break from the roar of other rider’s earbuds and phone conversations as the transit system tests out quiet zones.
Passengers can go to the top level of every coach on most of the Barrie line trains to find the designated quiet zone, which is marked with signs, according to GO Transit.
Metrolinx is marking carpool week by creating new parking areas designated for carpoolers at GO Stations in Oshawa, Rouge Hill and Mimico.
The expansion hopes to make it easier for commuters to share their ride to work in the GTA and Hamilton areas.
Commuters can get a free carpool parking permit for a GO Transit station by going online to register for a permit.
