Fire guts house under construction in Burlington

The Ontario Fire Mashal’s office is investigating a fire that gutted a multi-million dollar Burlington house under construction.

Crews were called to the scene on Lakeshore Road, between Walker and Appleby lines,  just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, and found flames  burning through the roof. It took about two hours for the 50 or so firefighters to tame the blaze. The entire effort lasted about six hours. Crews remained at the scene overnight dousing hot spots.

The fire caused $3.5 million in damage. Crews managed to prevent the flames from spreading to neighbouring homes.

Investigators will work Wednesday to determine a cause.

No injuries were reported.
