Double lung transplant recipient Helene Campbell will appear on Ellen next week, the Ottawa woman announced on Twitter.
Campbell , 21, said she would appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Feb. 19.
Campbell gained international attention with her tweets (@alungstory) and blog (A Lung Story) advocating for organ donation. The highly-successful campaign saw thousands of people register for Ontario’s transplant donor website.
Her message eventually reached fellow Canadian Justin Bieber, and later, Ellen.
Before she received her new lungs, Campbell had a video chat with the American talk show host. At the time, Ellen promised that Campbell could come in person, once she was well.
Campbell was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in October of 2011 and received a double-lung transplant on April 6, 2012. She had a check-up in January and showed no signs of rejection or infection.
