Black Keys drummer takes on Justin Bieber persona on Twitter

The drummer for the Black Keys looks a little different on Twitter these days.

Patrick Carney has taken on pop superstar Justin Bieber’s persona on the social media website. It appears to be another attempt to frustrate and annoy fans of Bieber after they turned on him following comments he made at the Grammy Awards.

Popular gossip website TMZ asked the five-time Grammy Award winner his thoughts on why Bieber had been snubbed at the Grammy’s to which he replied “He’s rich, right? Grammy’s are for music, not for money. He’s making a lot of money. He should be happy, I guess.”

Bieber tweeted reaction to the comment with a chuckle.

But Bieber fans didn’t find it as funny. They began inundating Carney with hate tweets, including several threats of violence.

The 32-year-old said he gets thousands of negative tweets daily from “Beliebers.”

At first he replied to angry fans but then on Saturday Carney changed his twitter name and photo to reflect the Canadian singer, saying he had been assimilated.

Carney changed the name on his verified Twitter account to Justin Bieber 2.0, although his handle remains @patrickcarney.

Several Black Keys fans have joined in on the joke, changing photos of the band to include Bieber’s face over Carney’s and altering their Wikipedia page.

Bieber, who is currently on the European leg of his Believe tour, has yet to respond to Carney’s actions.
