A single mother and her four children are homeless after their Malvern home was destroyed in a two-alarm fire on Thursday night.
The family’s three dogs are also missing.
“Everything we own…is gone,” Diana Gardiner told CityNews.
Emergency crews were called to the home on Kessack Court, near Neilson Road and Sheppard Avenue, just before 7 p.m.
No one was home at the time and neighbours called 911.
By the time firefighters arrived, it was too late to save the house.
The roof had already collapsed by the time the ladder truck was set up, Toronto Fire Capt. David Eckerman told CityNews, and the first floor was “burnt through.”
No one was injured but the family will not be allowed back in to the home.
Arson is not suspected, police said.
Gardiner said there had been two electrical fires at her Toronto Community Housing home since the summer.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
