2 face first-degree murder in Ricardo Vincent homicide

Two people have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Scarborough man last summer.

On June 22, 2012, a loud argument ensued between five to seven people in an apartment complex on Glamorgan Avenue, near Kennedy and Ellesmere roads.

During the fight Ricardo Vincent, 30, was shot twice in the torso. He was transported to hospital where he died of his injuries.

“All the people involved in this incident were known to each other. It appears there was some sort of an ongoing dispute,” said Det.-Sgt. Justin Vander Heyden of Toronto police’s homicide unit.

Orville Campbell, 21, of Toronto, and Stanton David, 20 of no fixed address, were charged with first-degree murder.

Police and Vincent’s family again asked on Tuesday for witnesses to come forward with any information.

“I just want to appeal to the people in the neighbourhood who saw exactly what happened. I think it’s your moral responsibility to come forward,” Vincent’s father Norris said during a news conference on Tuesday.

Vander Heyden said that members of the community were intimidated from co-operating with the police in the weeks and months following the shooting.

“I never want anyone to go through what I’m going through now and as a result of that I would like the members of my community, especially those who knew Ricardo, who were there that Friday evening to come forward,” said Vincent’s mother Diane.

Vander Heyden said security video along with several tips through Crime Stoppers have assisted in their investigation.
