Google Reader to end July 1

Tech giant Google announced on Wednesday that it will be retiring its popular RSS reader after eight years.
In a blog entitled A second spring of cleaning, the company cited declining usage as the reason behind its decision to end Google Reader.
The service be retired on July 1.
Google Reader was launched in 2005 as a way for users to keep tabs on their favourite websites.
The company says existing users will be able to export their data over the course of the next four months.
Also on the chopping block are Google Voice App for Blackberry, Google Building Maker – which allows people to make three-dimensional building models for Google Earth and Maps, Snapseed Desktop for both Mac and PC and Google Cloud Connect.
Since they began their “spring cleaning” in 2011 Google has shut down 70 features or services.
