Pastor charged with sexual assault

A 36-year-old man who works as a pastor in the city’s west end has been charged with sexual assault.

Toronto police say Artelino Vallada, a pastor at Jesus Christ The Open Door Church near Black Creek and Trethewey drives, molested four people — girls and women from age 14 to 21.

He was arrested on Thursday and charged with four counts of sexual assault and two counts each of sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching. The charges relate to alleged incidents in the city between November 2010 and January 2013.

Police said the victims came forward recently and they believe there may be others.

A bail hearing for Vallada on Friday was postponed until Monday.
