Toddler killed in Kitchener crash identified

A 17-month-old girl who died when a van rear-ended a car on Highway 7/8 in Kitchener has been identified as Angelina Zhu, the OPP says.
The child and her parents were in a car that police say broke down in a live lane on the highway west of Fischer Hallman Road when it was struck early Saturday evening.
The baby and her parents were initially taken to Grand River Hospital in Kitchener. The child was later flown to SickKids where she was pronounced dead. Her 36-year-old mother remains in a Hamilton hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The 38-year-old father was treated for minor injuries and released from hospital.
The driver of the van, Hugh John Brake, of Kitchener, was charged with eight offences, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, impaired driving causing death, obstructing justice and marijuana possession.
The investigation is ongoing.
