Toronto man facing 52 charges after alleged Kijiji scam

A 24-year-old Toronto man is facing 52 charges, including fraud and possession of counterfeit money, after he allegedly ripped off people who were selling items on Kijiji.

Police say Michael Morris, who also went by the names Michael Love, Jason Love, Paul Love, and Jason Williams, would respond to ads on the website and arrange a meeting with the sellers.

Police said he would then buy jewellery off the victims with counterfeit cheques and money, and later re-sell the items through the same site.

The alleged crimes took place between November 2012 and March 2013.

Morris was arrested on Friday and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
