My Chemical Romance break up after 12 years

Alternative rock band My Chemical Romance has announced that they have broken up after over a decade.

In a message posted on their website, the New Jersey four-piece thanked their fans for years of support.

“Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.”

The band was formed by lead singer Gerard Way in 2001, who took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the band’s end.

Over their twelve years, My Chemical Romance released four studio albums including Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004 which went double platinum in Canada and the 2006 rock opera The Black Parade.
