Former NDP MPP Peter Kormos has died: reports

Multiple media reports indicate former NDP MPP Peter Kormos has died.
The St. Catharines Standard Tweeted that Kormos passed away after an emergency call to his home earlier Saturday.
Welland Police would only confirm to 680News that an ambulance was called to Kormos’ home.
Kormos, a former lawyer, was first elected as an NDP MPP in 1988 and held that position until his retirement in 2011.
In 2012 Kormos was elected to the Niagara Regional Council in a by-election, following his retirement from provincial politics.
Kormos also served as House Leader for the Ontario NDP Caucus from 2001 until his retirement in 2011.
