The Ontario government announced Wednesday it is providing GO Transit riders with 25 new double-decker GO buses.
The new buses carry 26 more passengers — 81 in total, up from 55.
They are also lower than GO’s current double-deckers, allowing them to operate on 45 routes, which is 34 more than existing double-deckers can accommodate.
The new buses also have controlled air vents, LED reading lights, charging outlets and front-mounted bike racks.
The first bus will go into service Thursday and will operate on the Highway 407 routes, while the remaining buses will go into service by the end of May.
