Deputy mayor wants to see alleged Ford video

TORONTO, Ont. – Deputy mayor Doug Holyday said he believes there is a video which appears to show Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine, with “appears” being the key word.

This comes after Holyday spoke with Toronto Star reporter Robyn Doolittle – one of three people who claims to have seen the video – but the deputy mayor is not convinced the video is authentic, and believes a lot of questions could be answered if some individuals were able to review the tape.

“We have to have the tape analyzed, and see if it’s factual or not. If it was, things might change,” he said. “I think if we could just get the video, then we could analyze the video and see if it’s doctored or if it’s real, and we can go from there. That would clear up a lot of things.”

Holyday added that he’s surprised that the Toronto Star did not get the video when they had the chance.

The deputy mayor’s reaction isn’t upsetting Doug Ford.

“I think the world of Doug Holyday,” he told CityNews Channel. “He’s been a great deputy mayor and he’s a good friend of the family’s, and he’s entitled to his opinion.”

However, councillor Ford said he would take things more seriously.

“If anyone ever approached me with a video, I’d call the police instantly.”

Mayor Ford has adamantly denied the existence of the cellphone video which allegedly shows him smoking drugs.
