An environmental assessment (EA) for the Gardiner Expressway in the east end is about to start again.
The EA was shelved in late 2010 but resurrected by the budget committee earlier this year.
The study will consider whether to maintain, improve, replace or remove the 2.4 kilometre elevated expressway from Jarvis Street to east of the Don Valley Parkway near Logan Avenue.
The media briefing about the EA is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Toronto City Hall.
Staff from Waterfront Toronto will also hold public consultations beginning Thursday. Click here to register for the event.
The $4.41 million EA is expected to be completed by spring 2015, and will need council and provincial approval before work can begin on the Gardiner.
In March, city staff recommended beginning deck replacement program on the west end of the elevated highway instead of the east deck since the latter is undergoing the EA.
A string of falling concrete incidents began in May 2012 and continued through last summer, prompting the city to approve a $505 million plan for upgrades and repairs to the Gardiner over 10 years in January.
