TORONTO – The Toronto Star reports the home of a man pictured with Mayor Rob Ford was one of the locations targeted in Thursday’s police raids.
According to The Star, the home is a suspected crack house.
The Star identified the man as Muhammed Khattak, who was one of the men shot at King and Portland streets in March. Anthony Smith was also shot, but died in hospital.
Khattak reportedly lives at a home on Mercury Road — near the apartment complex at 320 Dixon Rd. where police conducted some of the raids.
Two Star reporters claimed they saw the alleged Ford crack video in Dixon apartment complex’s parking lot.
The newspaper reports five officers left the home on Mercury Road at 7:30 a.m. carrying a file folder type box, evidence bags and a laptop.
Ford has defended himself saying he takes pictures with a lot of different people.
Star reporter Kevin Donovan told 680News he doesn’t think the alleged Ford video prompted the raids.
“I don’t think they are directly linked, but I do think there’s a crossover between the investigation into what happened to the video and what’s going on with this guns and gangs investigation,” Donovan said.
