Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s ‘Same Love’ singer debuts new video

The woman who sang the chorus on Macklemore’s & Ryan Lewis’s smash hit Same Love has her own name – and a new video.

Mary Lambert, who performed with the rap group on Sunday at the MTV MVAs,  said Friday she was “bananas in pajamas excited” for her fans to see the video for She Keeps Me Warm.

The lyrics are based on the chorus she had already written for the rap group’s gay rights anthem in support of same-sex marriage.

In a post on her website — titled It’s here! It’s queer! It’s cute! I’m crying! – Lambert wrote that the video is “about love and it’s about visibility. I could be wrong, but I’ve never seen a relationship like mine accurately portrayed in a music video.”

Lambert, who identifies herself as lesbian on her website, thanked her fans for caring about love, in all its forms.

“So this is where I need to say one thing explicitly: gay relationships are not, nor have ever, been a novelty. My love is valid, equal, and beautiful.”
