Toronto’s reputation ranked 2nd in global study

A global consultancy firm has ranked Toronto second in a list of the world’s 100 most reputable cities.
The city jumped 20 spots since last year’s survey by the New York-based Reputation Institute, behind only Sydney and ahead of Stockholm, Vienna and Venice.
Toronto was also deemed the top city to work in, the second most attractive city to live in and the seventh highest in the invest category.
At the bottom are Cairo, Nairobi, Karachi, Tehran and Baghdad.
“The results highlight the key drivers of a good reputation: the beauty of the urban environment (most influential); safety; and the cultural, gastronomy and entertainment offerings or standard of living,” the institute said in a release.
No other Canadian city placed in the Top 10 — Vancouver sits at 14th and Montreal at 18th. Calgary wasn’t on the list.
“For the past three years, the city of Toronto has been focused on creating the conditions to drive economic growth and boost employment in our city,” Mayor Rob Ford said.
“My administration has worked hard to make Toronto a business-friendly environment, and that focus is paying off. Toronto’s impressive result in this international study confirms we are on the right track.”
The annual City RepTrak Study surveyed more than 22,000 people from G8 countries in January and February 2013.
