Mayor Ford asked to stand down from Santa Claus parade

The co-chairman of the Santa Claus parade is asking Mayor Rob Ford not to walk in this year’s event because he will be a distraction.
Ron Barbaro wrote a letter to the mayor’s office, asking that Ford not participate in an official capacity.
“We do not want this distraction to take away from the anticipated fun and enjoyment that children will have,” the letter states.
“We are asking him to go back to the original decision” to attend as a spectator and not a participant, Barbaro wrote.
The mayor has walked the parade three times — twice as mayor and once as mayor-elect.
