Vince Hawkes named new OPP commissioner

Vince Hawkes will become the new OPP commissioner, the provincial government says.
Hawkes, who was most recently deputy commissioner of the force’s field operations, replaces outgoing commissioner Chris Lewis.
“Commissioner Hawkes is a seasoned leader with three decades of exemplary service and I know that he will bring that experience, commitment and vision to his new role,” Premier Kathleen Wynne said in a release on Thursday.
Hawkes is a graduate of the University of Ottawa and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
He takes over on March 29 and will be the OPP’s 14th commissioner.
