Canadians didn’t win big at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, but one canuck did get a reaction.
Famous investor Kevin O’Leary introduced a live performance alongside Shark Tank co-star Mark Cuban, taking shots at Jay Z while they were at it.
The pair poked fun at the recent video of Solange attacking Jay Z in an elevator. Cuban and O’Leary joked they were investing in Solange’s new company “Beat Down” after she gave a great elevator pitch.
Justin Bieber was the lone canuck winner with his award for Top Social Artist, but the singer wasn’t on hand for the ceremony.
The Social Artist award is based on the number of followers and page views artists get on the top social media sites.
Toronto-based rapper Drake had five nominations but came up empty-handed as Eminem, Justin Timberlake, and Robin Thicke beat him out for a collection of awards including rap album, male artist, and R&B song.
Unlike other music awards, the Billboard Award winners are determined by chart-performance stats like total radio airplay or most downloads.
