Emergency services practice for disaster at Pearson airport

Police, paramedics and other emergency workers will be conducting drills on the airfield of Toronto’s Pearson International Airport Saturday.

Emergency services including Peel police and paramedics will be attending a simulated aircraft accident on the airfield.

The full-scale exercises are held once a year to practice protocols, procedures, communications and planning for emergencies.

WestJet, Air Canada, Nav Canada, Transport Canada and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada also participate in the exercises.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority advises that anyone passing by or visiting the airport be aware that these are drills only.
