4 charged in armoured car robbery at Fairview Mall

Toronto police say they made several arrests following a series of raids in North York on Thursday, including four in connection with the armed robbery of an armoured truck at Fairview Mall.

Police carried out the raids in the Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East area, which saw a total of 11 people charged, including four directly related to the armoured car heist on Jan. 20.

On that day, police say two men wearing balaclavas interrupted a cash delivery by a pair of guards at Fairview Mall. Gunfire was exchanged between one of the bandits and one of the guards before the masked men made off in a silver van with what police estimated to be just under $100,000 in cash.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Zunaed Kabir, 24; Ram Singh Bisht, 24; Jeremy Metyas, 21; and William Rebeiz, all of Toronto, are all face charged with armed robbery charges, as well as other various offences.

Police say they are still looking for a woman who bought the 2000 Dodge Caravan used in the robbery, and are unsure whether she was an accomplice or merely duped.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact police at (416) 222-TIPS.
