Doug Ford’s mayoral campaign website is now live.
Ford’s Ward 2 councillor website has now been updated to reflect his candidacy for the city’s top job, stating “Ford for Mayor.”
DougFord.ca doesn’t have much content on it yet, just his brother Rob Ford’s often-used slogan, “Putting Taxpayers First.”
The website urges people to vote for Ford on Oct. 2, and has links to social media sites.
The site recommends visitors check back soon for the official launch.
So far, Ford has just over 200 Twitter followers, and almost 400 likes on Facebook. As of 7 a.m. on Thursday, he was yet to post his first tweet. On Facebook, he has updated his profile and cover photos.
A couple of parody sites have also popped up, including electdougford.com, which features a statement he made at the last council meeting of the term about “running away from [city hall].”
Doug entered Toronto’s mayoral race on Friday, as Rob dropped out citing health reasons.
On Wednesday, colorectal surgeon Dr. Zane Cohen at Mount Sinai Hospital said the mayor has been diagnosed with a rare cancer called liposarcoma. The initial treatment will consist of two rounds of chemotherapy.
