1 injured after van crashes through Tim Hortons drive-thru in North York

Toronto police say one man has been arrested after driving his van erratically in a Tim Hortons parking lot before slamming into a building.

The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. on Thursday on Trethewey Drive, near Black Creek Drive.

Paramedics say a man, 53, who was driving the van suffered serious injuries to his face and chest. He was rushed to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Police tell 680News the driver of the van hit a car, taking off its mirror, before pulling in to the Tim Hortons drive thru.

He was confronted by the driver of the car while waiting at the drive thru window and tried to drive away, striking two more vehicles in the process.

The van jumped a curb and struck a pole before hitting a building and stopping.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story stated five people were injured when the van ran into the Tim Hortons. The van did not enter the coffee shop.
