Daily Bread on target to reach Thanksgiving food drive goals

Donations continue to pour in for the Daily Bread Food Banks’ Thanksgiving food drive.

Over 300 volunteers are helping sort and pack the donations over the long weekend.

The food bank is aiming to collect 200,000 pounds of food and $300,000 dollars during the food drive and organizers say they are confident they will reach their goals this year.

“We’re about two-thirds of the way there,” Executive director Gail Nyberg explained. “By the end of next week I’m really hopeful that we can get there.”

Donations can be made online at dailybread.ca and non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at any local fire hall or participating grocery store.

The drive ends on Oct. 18.
