Lexus recall announced due to possible fuel leak, fire

Toyota has announced a recall for almost 19,000 Lexus cars in Canada and another 423,000 in the United States because of a possible fuel leak, which could cause a fire.

The recall, announced on Wednesday, includes the 2007-2010 LS, 2008-2010 LS Hybrid, 2006-2010 GS, 2007-2010 GS Hybrid, 2006-2010 IS, 2010 IS C, and 2008-2011 IS F.

The automaker said in a statement that the engine fuel gasket could degrade and leak, and the ignition could then spark a fire.

Toyota added it’s not aware of any fires, crashes or injuries as a result of the flaw.

Owners will get a notice by mail and can take their cars to a Lexus dealership to have the gasket replaced at no charge.

The recall is one of three announced on Wednesday affecting about 1.7 million vehicles worldwide, The Associated Press reports.
