Poll shows Mayor Tory’s support down with Ford voters: report

Mayor Tory is still enjoying a high approval rating, according to a poll published in the Toronto Star.

The poll of 843 Torontonians found Tory’s public support has fallen seven points to 67 per cent from his 74 per cent rating in December.

Though the mayor is enjoying broad support from all age and income groups, his popularity with voters who supported Doug Ford in the mayoral race has taken a hit.

The poll shows two-thirds of Torontonians support Tory’s move to make the TTC free for children 12 and under. Doug Ford voters and those aged 45-54 were the least supportive.

And over half of respondents support the non-cash fare hike for the TTC.

In all, 54 per cent of respondents said they support Tory’s new budget, with 24 per cent opposed, and 17 per cent undecided.

The poll was conducted by Forum Research last weekend by interactive voice response. The results are considered accurate within three percentage points 19 times out 20.
