Four people hospitalized after Ajax highrise fire

Four people were sent to hospital after fire broke out on the top floors of a highrise apartment in Ajax.
Crews were called to the scene at 42 Exeter Rd., in the Harwood Avenue and Highway 401 area, before noon on Monday.
The victims were treated for smoke inhalation and burns.
The fire damaged the 16th floor, where it originated, and the 17th floor.
The smoke was so thick at points it was visible to people travelling on Highway 401.
The building was evacuated from the 14th floor to the top. Those residents have taken shelter in a nearby community centre.
The Ontario fire marshal is investigating.
