Anthony Doerr, Lawrence Wright, Chang-rae Lee among finalists for Carnegie Medal

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Anthony Doerr’s World War II novel “All the Light We Cannot See” and Lawrence Wright’s book on the Camp David talks are among the finalists for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence.
The American Library Association, which administers the prizes, announced three nominees each Monday for fiction and nonfiction. Besides Doerr, fiction finalists are Colm Toibin’s “Nora Webster” and Chang-rae Lee’s “On Such a Full Sea.” Nonfiction nominees are Wright’s “Thirteen Days in September,” Elizabeth Kolbert’s “The Sixth Extinction” and Bryan Stevenson’s “Just Mercy.”
Winners, to be announced in June, receive $5,000. Runners-up get $1,500.
The Carnegie medals were established in 2012. The prize money comes from a grant by Carnegie Corporation of New York.
