It seems Rob Ford can’t do anything without ruffling a few feathers.
Drive. Talk. And now, sit on a couch.
A smiling Ford pictured sitting on a couch in a Bad Boy furniture store has been running in newspaper ads all week, including in the Toronto Star and Toronto Sun.
Despite attempts to brand himself as a local everyman, Rob Ford is still a sitting member of city council, and as such may have — say it with us now — broken the rules.
Municipal layer John Mascarin told Now Toronto Ford’s appearance in the ad “constitutes an improper use of influence,” particularly given the fact the councillor was asked directly if the photo could be used for advertising.
The furniture retailer — founded by former mayor Mel Lastman — told multiple media outlets Ford did not receive any special compensation. Though he did get a great deal on a couple of sectionals (because every everyman needs multiple sectionals), but that’s just par for the course at Bad Boy, you know.
Now let’s sit back and watch the formal complaints roll in.
