Commuters are in for a pleasant surprise on Monday as the York Street GO Transit concourse opened at Union Station.
The concourse is part of GO’s plan to manage its rising ridership.
Additional staff will be on-hand to help commuters get around.
The new 62,000-square-foot concourse is almost double the size of the original Bay Street terminal, featuring additional self-serving ticket machines and more convenient access for travellers.
Wi-Fi is expected to come to the concourse in the future.
The existing Bay Street concourse will remain in use until after the Toronto Pan Am Games, when it will be torn down and rebuilt into a replica of the new York concourse.
The project is expected to be completed in 2017 at a cost of nearly $800-million.
