Search and rescue divers have recovered the body of a man who went missing in Professor’s Lake in Brampton on Sunday evening.
According to Peel police, a man in his 20s was walking along the lake with a friend on Sunday night when he somehow wound up in the water and never came out.
“They both decided to go into the water area, when the friend turned around, he noticed his friend disappeared,” Const. George Tudos said on Sunday.
“He was trying to get him out of the water or trying to look for [him], and at that point was when he called 911.”
In a tweet, police said the body is of the man who went missing.
Police, fire and marine units were scouring the lake near Bramalea Road and Bovaird Drive on Sunday, and resumed the search on Monday morning.
Another witness said he saw two men dive into the water to help search for the man. They weren’t able to find him.
