Toronto police at 53 Division posted a video on their Facebook page that has garnered over 35,000 views since it was posted on Saturday.
The description on the post says “this video is a small glimpse into what the Toronto Police Service has to work with while doing their daily job protecting the community,” and asked people to add their comments on the video.
Many people in the comments praised or even said “bravo,” to the officers for their actions in the video.
The video consists of two men trying to get past police to walk down a street that has been closed off by police.
In an email to CityNews, the person who shot the video says the version posted to LiveLeak leaves out an encounter with officers afterward.
The video’s author — who asked to be identified as Winston Smith — alleges that police attempted to “incriminate me and my other friends by questioning us and finally telling us to leave even though we were just standing on the sidewalk filming.”
“I believe that this is just another example of the police state flexing their authority and basically conditioning our generation to obediently follow any orders from police regardless of the validity and necessity of that order,” Smith wrote.
