On this week’s show…

The Liberals have unveiled their first budget, and it is full of red ink. The Trudeau government will be posting 5 straight years of deficits, beginning with 29.4-billion this year. The Liberals say it is an investment plan that will lay the foundation for long term economic growth, but the opposition is labeling it a nightmare.

We have full budget coverage, beginning with an interview with Finance Minister Bill Morneau. Then we have special panels recorded inside the budget lock up, breaking down the political implications of the plan and what this budget will mean to your family’s pocket book.

It was a sad week in Canadian politics. First on Tuesday, the former Mayor of Toronto Rob Ford, probably one of the most prolific and polarizing figures in Canadian politics, died of cancer at the age of 46. We speak with Toronto City Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti about Ford’s impact on the city and how he tried to get Ford to seek help for his addictions.

Another loss came on Wednesday when news broke about the sudden death of Alberta MP Jim Hillyer. The 41-year-old died in his Ottawa office. We’ll hear tributes from Conservative leader Rona Ambrose and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
