This chilly spring weekend may be a little colder for some Toronto Community Housing residents.
Residents at 25 and 49 Henry Lane Terrace in the Lower Jarvis Street and The Esplanade have been without hot water intermittently since Monday after boilers in the building went cold.
Signs have been posted at the elevators notifying all tenants that the building is experiencing hot water problems. One tenant tells CityNews that the situation is especially difficult for residents with disabilities and medical troubles who need hot water for their health and hygiene.
CityNews has learned that multiple crews have already tried to fix this problem, installing a hot water pump and boiler but the troubles persist. Another crew has now been called in to see if they can rectify the issue.
This is the same building that lost heat for several days in February 2015 when a main fuse from the city blew out.
Toronto Community Housing says the hot water should be back on by this evening or tomorrow. TCH says this is the reality of the $2.6-billion dollar repair backlog it is facing across the city.
