Honest Ed’s offers $1000 reward for return of stolen sign

By News Staff

Honest Ed’s may have served penny-pinchers well over the years, but the owners of the legendary Toronto bargain store are willing to cough up some serious cash for the return of one of their iconic hand-painted signs.

The seven-foot wooden sign was stolen on Friday after someone cut a lock and made off with it. It reads, ‘Honest Ed’s Pharmacy professional services since 1960’ in royal blue lettering.

The owners of the popular Annex store are offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the sign and any information leading to the thief.

“Toronto police have been notified and will be investigating,” said Honest Ed’s general manager, Russell Lazar. “We at Honest Ed’s are very disappointed that this theft took place.”

The store was founded by Ed Mirvish in 1948 and will be closing its doors for good at the end of December 2016.
