Worker killed in Brampton industrial accident

Peel police say a 60-year-old construction worker has been killed in a Brampton industrial accident.

The victim was working at a Gap Inc. Canada warehouse distribution centre at 9500 MacLaughlin Road North, near Williams Parkway.

“The worker suffered crushing type injuries and sadly the worker succumb to those injuries,” Const. Mark Fischer explained.

It’s not yet clear how the accident happened.

Tuesday evening, Gap Inc. Canada released the following statement about the accident:

“We are saddened by the tragic loss of a contractor at our distribution center in Brampton today, and we want to extend our deepest condolences to the individual’s family. Safety is our top priority, and we are working closely with local law enforcement agencies to investigate this incident,” spokesperson Heather Hopkins said.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
