Drone falls from sky almost striking Niagara police cruiser

By News Staff

Did you receive a drone for Christmas? Did you almost crash it into a moving cop car?

If so, Niagara regional police are in possession of the damaged unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and may even want to have a little chat with you.

In the meantime, they are reminding UAV owners to brush up on the rules after a close call on Tuesday night.

A Niagara police cruiser was driving in the area around Martindale Road and the South Service Road in St. Catharines at around 3 p.m. when a drone suddenly fell from the sky, nearly striking the vehicle.

Police couldn’t find the owner of the drone, described as an APEX x100. The drone was seized and is being held by police.

No one was injured, but in a tweet Niagara police urged drone owners to familiarize themselves with flying regulations.
