An Ajax man wanted in connection with a shooting at a downtown restaurant over the weekend was previously convicted — and acquitted — of murder.
It’s alleged around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Alexander Edward Collin Reid, 28, got into a fight with a 31-year-old man in the vestibule of a restaurant near Bathurst and Wellington streets.
Reid reportedly pulled out a gun, shot the other man in the hip and continued to physically assault him as he retreated into the restaurant.
Police said Reid then fled with his friends in a black Cadillac Escalade.
The 31-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police confirm Reid was convicted in a fatal shooting in 2008 at an Edmonton-area casino. He was subsequently acquitted on appeal.
Reid is wanted for several offences in connection with Saturday’s shooting, including aggravated assault, careless use of firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
He should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach.
