Suspicious fire breaks out in Vaughan home

The fire marshal has been called in to investigate following a suspicious house fire which broke out overnight in Vaughan.

The fire began on Mellings Drive, near Rutherford and Weston roads, around 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Smoke and flames were seen coming from the home when police arrived, but no one was home at the time and the blaze was quickly extinguished.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been called in to determine the cause of the fire.

Anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time of the fire and has video surveillance or dashcam footage are asked to call police.
